Hi, my name is Jamie Lewis and my career began as a speech-language pathologist in 2008, licensed in the state of Texas. I earned my bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of North Texas and hold a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).

Throughout the years, I have worked in a variety of settings including public schools, pediatric home health, and an outpatient private practice that serves pediatric and adult populations.

Currently, I primarily specialize in speech sound disorders including:
-
Articulation disorders
-
Phonological disorders
-
Motor/Neurological disorders (e.g. childhood apraxia of speech)

I believe that therapy sessions should be fun, engaging, dynamic, and targeted to treat the whole-child. Parent/guardian education and involvement are essential to the client's success in speech therapy. My role is to train and give clients and parents/guardians the tools needed to practice outside the therapy session so that the generalization of skills is encouraged and supported throughout other environments.
My passion is providing early speech and language intervention to children in order to establish a solid foundation of communication skills. Being present when a child begins to improve and then masters a goal is an amazing thing to witness. I consider it a privilege to be a part of this journey and look forward to working with you and your child.

The name "Deep in the Heart" combines my love of the speech-language pathology profession and our great state of Texas. I am a native Texan and live on a ranch in the Madisonville area with my husband, two sons, and yellow Lab. In my spare time, I love spending time with my family, cooking, painting, antiquing, and gardening.
